A wonderful tale that frequently serves as an example to make a point is the predicament of the pregnant deer.
The pregnant deer came across a high-flowing creek while looking for a very secure location to give birth to the fawn.
This was next to some grassland that was encircled by bushes.
Turning to her left to make sure the location was safest for her to give birth, she was startled to see a hunter leveling an arrow at her.
Then she looked to her right and was horrified to spot a lion waiting to pounce on her.
If that were not enough, lightning and clouds accumulating in the sky suddenly caused a forest fire in the bushes ahead of her.
Although initially frightened, the deer chose to focus on the most critical aspect of childbirth.
Then it started raining, which extinguished the forest fire.
Due to the ongoing lightning and thunder, the hunter shoots the arrow but misses the deer and hits the lion instead!
A healthy fawn is born to the deer.
The narrative serves as an example of the need to focus on what is vital in the most pressing moments, regardless of the circumstances.
The same thing happened on January 15, 2009, when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger was in control of a US Airways flight (1549) traveling from LaGuardia Airport in New York City to Charlotte.
The migrating birds hit the flight while it was airborne, damaging both engines.
Captain Sully, a brave hero, chooses to “ditch”, as it is known in the aviation profession (water landing).
He descends the aircraft with unwavering courage and determination, miraculously landing on the Hudson River while missing the nearby bridge and boats, rescuing all 150 passengers in the process.
It is the presence of the mind that has allowed both of the aforementioned circumstances to avoid tragedies and come out on top.
